About

Raymond Gonzalez is a father, husband, artist, and educator who lives in Jacksonville, FL.  He creates work that has been published and recognized nationally.  By creating toy-like artwork and integrating sensual forms and tactile surfaces, Gonzalez questions how we integrate play in to our lives.  Grounded in the ceramic tradition, the work often integrates materials not typically associated with the medium including LED’s, rhinestones, automotive urethane, fiber optics, flocking, and rubber.  He finds inspiration in the artwork of artists such as Ken Price & Ron Nagle, California Car Culture, and graffiti.  Ultimately, his goal is to provide a temporary visual escape where the viewer is allowed to question how they played, why they played, and how they continue to integrate play in to their lives.
